Erica Lockwell is an artist, illustrator, aspiring picture book author and former archaeologist. Her work is warm and playful, inspired by all the creatures that surround her. She is particularly interested in depicting hidden or overlooked worlds, whether that be in the vegetal richness of a forest or the built landscape of a suburb. She loves bold earthy colors, plenty of texture, and scribbly expressive lines.
She aims to lead with curiosity and compassion, and wants to work on stories that highlight radical self-acceptance while not losing sight of the profound importance of play, humor, and fun.
Erica lives a delightfully queer life in Malden, MA with her partners and three cats.
